One of the main oppositions in Ethiopia the All Ethiopia Unity Organization (AEUO) on Tuesday said it had rejected the election result announced by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) as the election process failed to implement the electoral law signed by political parties.

NEBE on Monday announced the final result of the national elections held on May 23, in which the ruling party EPRDF has gained land slide victory across the country.

AEUO told journalists that it would continue with its peaceful struggle against undemocratic forces in the country.

Tadios Bogale, vice president of AEUO, along with another official, said AEUO had never accepted the result announced by the NEBE as the election process was full of irregularities.

They said their candidates and supporters were beaten while voters in rural polling stations were forced to vote for the ruling party.

They said the election was unfair, biased, and undemocratic.

The Officials said AEUO has appealed to the court as the NEBE has failed to give positive responses regarding their complaints about the election.

They added that Party leaders are waiting for the verdict from the court.

Meanwhile, Coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) which is composed of 11 different associations said it has observed the election was fair, free, and democratic.

Speaking to a press conference at Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, Representatives of the Coalition said they have observed the elections being independent and impartial without any influence, whether from the ruling party, or whether from the oppositions.

The Representatives said no irregularity has been observed by any of the observers deployed by the coalition.

AEUO and Forum (coalition of eight political parties) have requested re-election following the announcement of provisional results of the election by NEBE.
